Relines and Rebase
Once you’ve lost some or all of your teeth, the bone that once supported those teeth can start to recede or shrink slowly over time. This can cause your dentures to start to sit differently in your mouth, which reduces suction, comfort and functionality.
A reline addresses the tissue bearing surface of your denture to restore the optimal fit of your denture. This will eliminate problems of soreness, rocking, or food entrapment in the denture.
A rebase is the same as a reline except we replace all the old acrylic in your denture rather than just relining the inside. This will eliminate the transitional line between the old and new acrylic and eliminate the odors, bacteria, staining and discoloration of the old acrylic.
On average, people require a reline or rebase every 2-3 years. These procedures take a day, so plan to be without your denture from 9:00am – 4:00pm. Other arrangements can also be made.
